When was this album released?
Blackfilm is the anonymous Hungarian artist on Spectraliquid Records, a Greek independent label organized by Mobthrow, Subheim, Katja and Xsoz. The self-titled debut album from Blackfilm is the label’s only second release (first being an obligatory compilation, titled Konkrete, with a taste of things to come). It came out at Apr 2008.
What I’ve liked about this album?
The atmosphere. It’s so dense, dynamic and impressively cinematic. It sounds like it came straight out of some soundtrack, but it’s not. The album as a whole represents an invitation; an invitation for the long night walks, an invitation for the book reading… an invitation for any solitary experience, really.
What I hated about this album?
Sometimes the sound just wanders off too much and it just lays there. Usually I wouldn’t mind, but in this case, where the sound is so abstract, I think a little control(in a form of stronger beat, guiding voices, stronger melodies in general…) can be a good thing. It gives the character to the sound.
If this album was a dish, what dish would it be?
This album has a thirsty mind, so I would say, it can’t be a dish.
If this album was a place, where would it be?
Cold and murky streets at night.
Perfect setting for this album?
The streets are wet and the rain just keeps falling. The weather is cold, but it is getting colder. Something scary might happen on the second corner from the right!
Is this album more a man or a woman?
A man, or a really sneaky woman.
This album can be a drink, too. What drink would it be?
That kind of drink that would a private detective drink.
A go-to song from this album?
“Midnight To 4 AM”.
A song from this album that could be turned into a hymn?
This is not that kind of album.
Similar albums, similar artists?
Imagine Amon Tobin meets Massive Attack.
How can this album make your life better?
If you have any introversion atoms in you, it can.
