When was this album released?

Saurian Meditation is the first solo album by Karl Sanders, the vocalist/guitarist of the technical death metal band Nile. It was released on 26 October 2004 through Relapse Records. The music is a full-length exploration of the atmospheric interludes heard on Nile’s previous albums and still draws on ancient Babylonia and Lovecraftian themes for inspiration. The album was well received by metal and non-metal listeners alike.

What I’ve liked about this album?

This album was such a discovery for me, personally. The only dark ambient I had listened until this album was maybe, a little of Lustmord and Arcana, that kind of stuff. The fact that this man is coming from a band as big and important as Nile is just a bonus.
I liked it mostly because it tells a story. You must listen to it from the beginning to the end. It has a “soul”.

What I hated about this album?

Weird. I like it all the way.

If this album was a dish, what dish would it be?

The stuffed duck which was sacrificed to the furious gods of not plugging out the USB safely.

If this album was a place, where would it be?

It sounds just like a dream. Where your mind drives you, there you are.

Perfect setting for this album?

When you are in a need of a spiritual healing or in some complimentative moment.

Is this album more a man or a woman?

Both. I can see them both.

This album can be a drink, too. What drink would it be?

Some liquor made from the root of the very old tree mixed with dried magic herbs.

A go-to song from this album?

All of them.

A song from this album that could be turned into a hymn?

Awaiting the Vultures.

Similar albums, similar artists?

The Nile, Wardruna.

How can this album make your life better?

It can help you reach your inner findings and thoughts. It is a very intense and mind-clearing album.
